Graduating ICC Cyber Security Engineering students (both face to face & online) install firewall network security devices as part of their final activity for school year 2025-2026.
Firewalls are a critical cybersecurity tool that protect networks by monitoring, filtering, and controlling traffic between trusted and untrusted networks. Firewalls act as the first line of defense in network security, forming a barrier between a trusted internal network and potentially dangerous external networks, such as the internet . They monitor incoming and outgoing traffic, allowing or blocking data packets based on predefined security rules, which can include IP addresses, ports, protocols, and application types. By doing so, firewalls prevent unauthorized access, malware infiltration, and data breaches, ensuring that only legitimate traffic passes through.
Firewalls are indispensable in cybersecurity for protecting networks, controlling access, preventing malware, supporting compliance, and enabling secure network management, making them a cornerstone of any robust security framework.
