ICC @ Yubico Information Security Seminar

ICC, represented by ICC Senior Staff Mr Henry Aquino and Ms Rosalie Guiao, attended the “Yubico Information Security Seminar” last August 14, 2025 at the 1898 Hotel, Kalayaan Avenue, Poblacion, Makati City. The event, organized by WordText Systems Inc, was part of the seminar series entitled ““End-to-End Security: Protecting Your Digital Assets”.
The YubiKey is a hardware authentication device manufactured by Yubico to protect access to computers, networks, and online services that supports one-time passwords (OTP), public-key cryptography, authentication, and the Universal 2nd Factor (U2F) and FIDO2 protocols developed by the FIDO (Fast IDentity Online) Alliance. It allows users to securely log into their accounts by emitting one-time passwords or using a FIDO-based public/private key pair generated by the device. YubiKey also allows storing static passwords for use at sites that do not support one-time passwords. Google, Amazon, Microsoft, Twitter, and Facebook use YubiKey devices to secure employee accounts as well as end-user accounts.
How YubiKeys Enhance Information Security: a) Phishing Resistance. YubiKeys are resistant to phishing attacks because they use hardware-based authentication, making it difficult for attackers to steal credentials through fake login pages. b) Strong Authentication. They offer a more secure alternative to traditional authentication methods like passwords or SMS-based codes, which can be vulnerable to interception or hacking. c) Two-Factor Authentication (2FA). YubiKeys can be used as a second factor of authentication, requiring both the key and a password to log in, significantly increasing security. d) Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA): Some YubiKeys support multiple protocols, enabling them to be used for MFA, which adds even more layers of protection. e) Passwordless Login: For services that support it, YubiKeys can enable passwordless login, further simplifying and securing the authentication process, according to Yubico. d) Physical Security. The YubiKey is a physical device, making it more difficult for hackers to compromise than software-based solutions.
Yubico was founded in Stockholm, Sweden making secure login easy and available to everyone, and enabling one single authentication key to work across any number of services. Stina Ehrensvärd is a Swedish-American entrepreneur, innovator and industrial designer. She is the founder and Chief Evangelist of Yubico and co-inventor of the YubiKey authentication device. Aligned with its mission of making the internet more secure for everyone, Yubico donates YubiKeys to organizations helping at-risk individuals through the philanthropic initiative, Secure it Forward. The company is headquartered in Stockholm and Santa Clara, CA. with manufacturing plants located in both countries.
